From High-Level Athlete to High-Level Educator.
Andrea “Fitz” Fitzgerald is an educator, consultant and coach known for moving educational data and shifting mindsets. She truly believes to improve results we must build the whole teacher and student by enhancing their self-efficacy with challenge and intentional support. As a result, Fitz continues to provide innovative resources and strategies to assist educators and students with The necessary tools to address challenges in and outside of the classroom.
Andrea transitioned from a life in the NBA to a highly sought Math Coach/Advisor. Originally, she dreamed of serving as a physical education teacher, but quickly she realized the students needed her to serve a higher purpose. Quickly, Fitz realized her place was in the classroom teaching mathematics. For over a decade, Andrea has served in various capacities; inclusive of seven years in the classroom and almost a decade in key leadership roles.
Andrea has been praised locally and nationally for her accomplishments. As a teacher, Fitz was one of the key contributors to Kirby High School being selected as a Gold-Gain and Silver Gain School for three consecutive years, as well as a State of Tennessee Reward School. Because of her contributions, she earned the Effective Practice and Incentive Spotlight Teacher. She continues to demonstrate a proven record of moving student data from the lowest percentile to proficient. Also, while serving as a Math Coach/Advisor in the Professional Development and Support department, Andrea built the capacity and supported over 400 teachers and leaders around implementing the Common Core. In addition, she has trained, coached, and developed a countless number of educators and equipped students to increase their scores on standardize tests and state exams.
Teaching became more than a job, she quickly learned “this work” Is about transforming students’ mind to think critically, build confidence and create opportunities for themselves. It was more than math.
Fitz places a high level on academics but she’s learned “this work” extends beyond her multiple to degrees and decorated credentials. “This work” is about transforming students’ mind to think critically, build confidence and create opportunities for themselves. It was more than math. It’s about empowering educators with the practical skills, strategies, and resources to positively connect with their students to make an impact; personally and professionally. Fitz has served as an educational consultant and/or professional learning facilitator for such highly esteemed organizations as Student Achievement Partners, Instruction Partners and Teaching Lab. It is her personal mission to continue to add value and routines, which enables her clients to become mathletically fit.
